35th Reunion of the Hopewell-Loudon Class of 1971

Fifteen of forty-seven surviving members of the Hopewell-Loudon Class of 1971 met for their 35th Class Reunion on July 1, 2006.   After a tour of the high school, they gathered at Clouse’s Bar in Bascom, Ohio, which is owned and managed by their classmate, Clint Clouse.  The reunion committee was Clint Clouse, Candy (Watson) Mustamaa, and Suzy (Constant) Donaldson, with help from Jean (Scherger) Thompson and LaDonna (Wade) Snyder.  Class directories were distributed and memorials were read for departed classmates:  Bob Bentz (1952-1975); Gail (Brickner) Waltermyer (1953-1983); Donavon Coppus (1953-1999); Denny Clouse (1953-2000); Jim Thomas (1953-2000); and Kenny Hammer (1953-2003).  Classmates attending were:  Terry Haugh, Sandra (Lowery) Tully, Mike Weller, Linda (Shumaker) Haugh, Dave Bishop, Suzy (Constant) Donaldson, LaDonna (Wade) Snyder, Neal Snyder, Mike Reinhart, Clint Clouse, Jean (Scherger) Thompson, Mary (Kleinfelter) Swartz, Judy (Zoeller) Miller, Karen (Michelli) Boner, and Candy (Watson) Mustamaa.  In addition to spouses, special guests attending were:  Geri Hammer, Ruth Stiverson (classmate from kindergarten through eighth grade), and George and Margaret Thornton, who taught their first classes to the Class of 1971.  Special recognition was given Mike Weller for having the most children (9), traveling the farthest (476 miles), and having the youngest child (2 years old).  Judy & Dan Miller have been married the longest:  34 years.  John Best has the most grandchildren (14).     The 2011 Fortieth Reunion of the class will be organized by the committee of Judy (Zoeller) Miller, Candy (Watson) Mustamaa, and Darlene (Valentine) Lockard.
