Hopewell students earn top spots in Elks Free Throw Contest

The Elks Free Throw District Competition was held at Columbian High School Gymnasium on Saturday, December 5, 2009.

Jacquelyn Burns won the Girls 8-9 year old division.

Gabrielle Greg was runner-up in the Girls 10-11 year old division.

Hannah Williams was runner-up in the Girls 12-13 year old division.

Garrett White was runner-up in the Boys 10-11 year old division.

Jacquelyn will compete in the Regional Elks Hoop Shoot Competition at University of Findlay on January 10th at 12:00.

Francisca wins Pumpkin
Decorating Contest!

4th GRADE- During the month of October the fourth grade participated in a fundraiser to benefit children at Tiffin Mercy Hospital.  Riehms Farm donated pumpkins for the students to decorate.  The pumpkins were displayed at Riehms Farm and visitors to the fall festivities could vote on the most creatively decorated pumpkin.  Each vote cost $.25 and all proceeds went to the hospital.  Francisca Peace won first prize earning $30.00 in donations.  Her name was placed on a traveling trophy that will spend the next year in our elementary on display.
On November 10 there was a special assembly to award Francisca the trophy.  The children learned about how their efforts would help area children, and discussed healthy eating habits with a diabetes instructor from Tiffin Mercy Hospital.  At the assembly Jacob Gosche won a $5.00 gift card to the Wolf Creek Café in the hospital.
