History of Relay for Life at Hopewell-Loudon
Hopewell-Loudon students have been participating in the Relay for Life since 2001. The first team was a group of fifth graders that raised over $1600. That group of fifth graders returned as sixth graders along with a new group of fifth graders the following year. Over the last ten years, the student teams have grown by leaps and bounds and now include teams from grades 6-12 and an alumni team. In 2010, the students from Hopewell-Loudon raised over $15,000 bringing our grand total to over $100,000!

Fundraisers
Black Swamp Candles
Team members will be taking orders for Black Swamp candles from Feb. 28-March 15.
Orders need to be turned in by March 15, 2011. Relay team members will have order forms. Candles will be available for delivery during the week of April 11-15, 2011. The cost is $8.00 per candle and the teams make 50% profit on the candles.
Bracelets
Team members will be selling purple rubber silicone bracelets, OSU beaded bracelets, pink/white breast cancer awareness bracelets, and mult-colored Swarovski crystal bracelets.
Order forms will be available soon.
Penny Collection
All Hopewell-Loudon elementary students will collect change for the American Cancer Society from April 1-April 14, 2011.
Luminary
Luminary (small paper bags with candles) may be purchased “In Memory” or “In Honor” of a family member or friend that has battled cancer. These bags are placed in a very large circle and the names of those that have battled cancer will be read during the Luminary Ceremony on May 13th at the Relay. Order forms are available from team members or contact Deb Weaver.
Luminary orders may be given to team captains at any time before the Relay.
Donations
6th grade team members need to collect a minimum of $35.00.
7th -12th grade team members need to collect a minimum of $50.00.
Donations are due by Friday, May 6th, 2011.
